Welcome to today’s daily kōrero!

Anyone can make the thread, first in first served. If you are here on a day and there’s no daily thread, feel free to create it!

Anyway, it’s just a chance to talk about your day, what you have planned, what you have done, etc.

So how’s it going?

    I’m so grumpy!

Daughter woke us up with random arm pit pains. My son claims he has a sore stomach. My wife complains I woke her getting ready for work (lucky for some!) and I find not only did the cat piss in the tray under the bed, they used they’re famous storm trooper aim - why do we have these things?

That’s a pretty rough start, has it improved yet?

Not really, I got pestered all day about vaguely relevant stuff. Managed to get a few of my own things underway though, so taking that as a win.

        Wine helps, unfortunately

You sound grumpy! What’s a tray in a house with a cat for if not for pissing in?

Coffee has been obtained, the sun is out, and the morning is taking approximately six years to get through.

Sitting at work on a stunning day, dreaming about a new cave we found last weekend - just want to get back out there and explore

Exciting! Any bears? Tiptoe, tiptoe, tiptoe…

Nice! Are we talking small caves or large cave systems?

Pretty big (hopefully!) This was the access pitch for this particular cave - about 50m

Wow! Where in the country is this? And how do you go about “finding” a cave? Then you just… throw a rope around a tree and down you go?

Hahah, pretty much - need some specialised gear for the abseil / ascent, but yeah, it’s a rope down the hole (rigged to two trees in this case for safety) and go for it. Found this one with a combo of topo map and LIDAR data. It’s out the back of Charleston, West Coast. Walked about 500m of passage but need to get back and see if it keeps going.

It always amazes me what hobbies people have! What an amazing find! Do you find new caves often?
