Welcome to today’s daily kōrero!

Anyone can make the thread, first in first served. If you are here on a day and there’s no daily thread, feel free to create it!

Anyway, it’s just a chance to talk about your day, what you have planned, what you have done, etc.

So how’s it going?

Hahah, pretty much - need some specialised gear for the abseil / ascent, but yeah, it’s a rope down the hole (rigged to two trees in this case for safety) and go for it. Found this one with a combo of topo map and LIDAR data. It’s out the back of Charleston, West Coast. Walked about 500m of passage but need to get back and see if it keeps going.

It always amazes me what hobbies people have! What an amazing find! Do you find new caves often?

I’m only just getting back into it after 20 years away overseas - but we’ve been lucky to find two brand new systems in the past month. That’s pretty unusual, even in these parts!

Wow! That’s awesome! I hope you’ll share more pics! (The community [email protected] would appreciate them, and you can cross post to [email protected] as well (cross posting is a little icon under your post that you may see used as a copy icon in other contexts. Cross posting puts a link unter the post to tell people it has been cross posted to/from another community).

Oh nice one - didn’t know about that community. Cheers!

There are a couple of other NZ Lemmy communities. In the interest of decentralisation it would be nice to let them build up some communities so we have a list of some in this post..

One that’s getting a bit of traction is [email protected], so if you see any wildlife you can consider posting there!

While the communities are building membership it’s a good idea to cross post to [email protected] as that one has by far the biggest membership.
