Hi all, we’ve been having daily threads in [email protected] but I thought I’d branch it out to [email protected].

It doesn’t have to be me making the thread, first in first served. If you are here on a day and there’s no daily thread, feel free to create it!

Anyway, it’s just a chance to talk about your day, what you have planned, what you have done, etc.

So how’s it going?

Yay, Friday! Going to splash out and buy something hot for lunch today. It’s normal to measure your work day by how long until lunch, right?

I used to work with someone who said the day goes quicker before lunch, and slower after, so he’d have lunch 2-2:30 then knock off at 4.

It sounds that wasn’t you, though!

If I had to wait an extra two hours for my lunch I would probably do something unprofessional like stab a colleague (hanger is a real thing!)

I like the idea of knocking off an hour early though, especially on Fridays!

That wasn’t early, in that team pretty much everyone worked 8-4 with a 30 min lunch (ok it was a bit early, as they had 37.5 hour weeks, which I miss…)

Wife and kids are super sick, but I somehow dodged the plague so far…

I predict a weekend in bed

At least the F1 sessions are almost all at sane times this weekend.

          Yeah ideal!

Europeans and Americans all complain when they have to watch at 6am but for us that’s a good deal actually.

      Winter is coming…

Winter has repainted our footpath a crisp white this morning. Guess I’m going to find out how well I can walk in my fancy snowboots, since I don’t trust my own sense of balance and falling in front of the main arterial route during morning commute would be mortifying.

As I sit inside, with the heater on, checking my emails, I am eternally grateful that I work from home 90% of the time!

I thought I’d go find some stats on reddit activity recently, ended up on this page: https://subredditstats.com/r/newzealand

There’s a section for keywords that r/NZ uses more than other subreddits. “Co-leader”, ok makes sense. “fuckwit”, sounds about right. “enquiry”, oh good, at least people on reddit know the difference between enquiry and inquiry.

But then there’s “-9”, “-12”, “+11”, and “$53”. As well as “1887” and “1815”. Are these numbers significant in some way?

Yeah, or maybe we do use them more than average but for no real reason, it just happened.

Oof love the $60 fee at the doctors just for them to agree with me that my hayfever has come back for winter.

Can’t imagine how those worse off pick and choose what’s worth going to the doctor for.

I feel for you, as a person with permanent allergies. I find the easiest way to tell if it’s allergies is to put an N95 mask on for an hour. If symptoms go away or improve, it’s allergies.

Is that going to be one of the things that pharmacists will be able to deal with soon? I saw a list of things they’ll be taking on and it seemed pretty comprehensive (but I can’t remember if allergies were included).

I was under the impression that that was limited to certain groups. They’ve set me up to now just be able to order it as a repeat prescription which is good. Think they saw the pointlessness of me coming in when they have properly sick people they need to see

Oh, I wasn’t aware it was a targeted campaign. That’s a little disappointing but hopefully it’s successful and will go a ways to getting people to actually get treatment. I know I’ve avoided the doctors for about the last year because I don’t feel I’m sick enough to claim an appointment; if there’s not so much pressure on the staff I’ll be more inclined to go.
