I’m looking to replace my aging PC that is almost 10 years old. I’ve been looking at the Minisforum NPB7 and the Minisforum HX99G. I use my computer mostly for YouTube, Minecraft and browsing the web. My concern is, can these mini PCs handle these basic tasks? From my research and reviews, I think they can… Just looking for confirmation. Thanks!
Caveat - I have built computers for work and play for twenty years. But I do not have any direct experience with these.
That being said the specs on that machine should be more than enough for what you describe. In fact you could probably go for a cheaper model depending on how heavily modded Minecraft is for you.
Don’t just rely on me and hope you get something you love! I absolutely adore small form factor builds.
don’t have experience with them but it looks like you’d be ok
Beware of overheating…
The very small cases with tiny little fans can only dissipate so much heat.
If you’re Minecrafting for an extended period you may have either therma throttling, or, what I had which was a POP and smell of burning CPU.
I think it was because I’d set the BIOS to run the fans quietly rather than in performance mode (i.e. loud).
Just bear that in mind.
That’s what I read in the reviews For previous models, I haven’t read anything about the HX99G. The case is a little bigger that other mini PCs.
Any modern PC can handle basic tasks such as streaming videos and browsing the web, or else they would not sell.
I believe both the ones you listed can handle Minecraft, assuming you play an unmodded one. If you’re modding it with ray tracing and other graphically intensive mods, then probably not.
The hx99g has the Ryzen 7735hs which has integrated 680M graphics. It’s a pretty strong little package. Performance is a little under a 3060. It should work fine for Minecraft.
