My kid and his wife are headed to Singapore next month and they had planned on meeting her family in Myanmar, I hope they reconsider.

The backup plan is for her family to meet them either in Thailand or Singapore, but that makes me worried for them! How hard will it be for them to leave and get back in?

If I had family in Myanmar I’d try everything I can to get them out. If they have the option to travel to Thailand, they should take it.

It’s super complicated. Her dad was a minister in the government that got deposed, he just wasn’t a member of the party that got deposed.

Military rolls in, gives him an offer he can’t refuse… “Hey, you wanna come work for us?.. I SAID ‘YOU WANNA COME WORK FOR US???’”

So now they catch shit from both sides. He’s not in a position to tell the military “No!” and the whole family gets crap for being on “their side”. It’s a whole thing. She had to nuke all her social media because of it.

Damn, in that case there’s no option to meet in Thailand or Singapore. It could raise suspicion from the military.

I know, even just leaving the country could get them in trouble, much less returning.

All I want is for everyone to be careful and come home safe.

You question is somewhat ambiguous. Do you mean how difficult would it be for your daughter’s family to get back into Myanmar, or how difficult would it be for your son and his wife to get back into Singapore once in Myanmar? I hate to say it, but what kind of passports they hold will also likely factor in.

From my just a guy on the internet perspective, I’d say it would be far more preferable for your DIL’s family to get stuck in Singapore than the alternate. Things can move very quickly in a civil war.

Yeah, if they leave Myanmar for Thailand or Singapore, and things suddenly get dramatically worse… I worry for everyone over there.
