Welcome to today’s daily kōrero!

Anyone can make the thread, first in first served. If you are here on a day and there’s no daily thread, feel free to create it!

Anyway, it’s just a chance to talk about your day, what you have planned, what you have done, etc.

So, how’s it going?

We moved the 1yo’s cot to her own room last week finally, it’s been an adjustment period as she’s been unwell again, but we’re getting a decent sleep some nights now. After a year of broken sleep every night, it’s nice to be able to relax in our own bedroom again.

I’m a heartless monster, I kicked the kids out of the bedroom on about the 5th day. Neither of us would get any sleep with the baby in the room.

They also shared a bedroom for about 6 years until the younger one wanted his own room. You’d think that’d make them super close or something, but nah they fight like siblings always seem to.

Our first slept in our room for about the first 4 years due to our living situation. It was hard to train her to sleep without my wife when it came time.

We planned to do it differently this time, but became lazy to move her. It was starting to get too much though at 1 year because she refuses to sleep if she wakes up in the middle of the night and can see us from her tiny jail.

I do not miss those days. Our youngest is three now, and we probably only need to get up to one of them a couple of times a week now, if they are healthy and on a good sleep schedule.

I think she actually sleeps better when she can’t see us. I did have to get a cheap webcam for the room as she likes to sleep on her tummy. Also helps that we can check on her without opening the door in the middle of the night as she can sometimes settle herself back to sleep

I can imagine the camera being useful. I can remember times wishing we had one, especially on cold nights when we didn’t want to get out of bed.
