    • Brush: Dogwood Handcrafts “Santa Noir” w/Maggard 28mm SHD Badger
    • Razor: Micromatic Clog-Pruf (Gen 1)
    • Blade: Personna GEM PTFE (3)
    • Lather: Stirling Soap Co. - Hipster - Soap
    • Post Shave: House of Mammoth - Santa Noir - Aftershave
    • Post Shave: Nivea Sensitive Balm
    • Fragrance: Maher Olfactive - Madame Chouteau

Inspired by some talk on Discord about Hipster, and then seeing @[email protected] use a soap called “Hipster”, I decided to use Hipster. It’s a really nice scent that I never got more than a sample of, and now it’s discontinued.

I decided to use more of my Madame Chouteau sample, and despite remembering how strong and stanky it is, I did two sprays (sample sprays, mind you). Woof, this stuff is strong. Smoky and deep, it’s not for everyone. I like to describe it as being in a basement bar in Europe during WWII (like the scene in Inglourious Basterds).

I have to figure out if this razor is milder than my MMOC or if they’re the same. I can’t remember if I’ve ever done a side-by-side shave with them… surely I have?! I used to think they’re the same, but today it felt like maybe it’s milder? Either way, it was a good shave. Looking forward to my favorite GEM tomorrow – Bullet Tip/Flying Wing.

  • Can you solve that fir me?

I think fragmentation in the community would only really be a factor if there was some sort of rift, and not from having options on where to post. A similar conversation has taken place on Discord, wondering if Discord was absorbing posts and content that should instead be put on Reddit. I don’t know the answer to that.

r/wetshaving lost some people during the enshitification of Reddit (the website, not the community). Freedberg comes to mind. I believe some people here are in the same boat, where they just decided they were done with their Reddit accounts.

So to me the question is, if Lemmy wasn’t here, would anybody start posting on Reddit again? I think the answer is no. I’m a hybrid, where I still post there from time to time and enjoy answering questions in the DQT, but I only post my SOTDs here for the most part, and sometimes in Discord. The reason for that is because I’m angry with Reddit, but recognize that I’m stuck using it :-)

Lemmy started as a quick alternative during the Reddit boycott, and has survived as just another place to post. If something happens with Reddit again, Lemmy is ready to go!

    • Brush: Dogwood Handcrafts “Santa Noir” w/Maggard 28mm SHD Badger
    • Razor: GEM Pushbutton
    • Blade: Personna GEM PTFE (2)
    • Lather: Chatillon Lux/Storybook Soap Works - La Forêt de Liguist - Soap
    • Post Shave: Chatillon Lux - Delor de Treget - Aftershave
    • Fragrance: Spearhead - Seaforth! Heather - EdP

This combo really came together nicely. La Forêt de Liguist is a really interesting scent. Dry forest smells, almost musty, but brightened up a tad by something. Delor de Treget is more of a citrus type scent, but along the same vein. Proceeding to get even brighter, Heather topped it all off with a big burst of clary sage.

The pushbutton was really nice. Slightly milder than the MMOC, but just as efficient and fun to use. Mechanically it’s not nearly as interesting as the MMOC, but it’s still sort of cool in that department.

    • Brush: AP Shave Co. - 24mm Synbad Fan
    • Razor: MMOC Gen 2
    • Blade: Personna GEM PTFE (1)
    • Lather: Barrister & Mann/Zingari Man - Nocturne - Soap
    • Post Shave: Aqua Velva - Ice Blue - Aftershave

I shaved last night so I could head out the door early this morning. I wanted a super close shave that’ll last me until late afternoon, and the MMOC did a great job.

I was also inspired by @DaveWave94 (sorry, tagging is a missing feature in Jerboa), but had better luck than him with a fresh PTFE blade. I’ve definitely had rough first shaves, but as I gain experience I’m starting to blame it on technique.
