I’d imagine being able to differentiate sex (I doubt they have a concept of gender as we understand it) is an evolutionary necessity, though.
You wouldn’t get social pressures as a kid? It definitely speaks a lot to an adults sensibility of stress and anxiety, but it’s not like kids never struggle to fit in. Especially when there are major changes in their lives.

There are more tools than ever to find community online, much less in cooperative games. Just because people don’t feel forced to play with you doesn’t mean you can’t find people who want to play with you.
