I agree. Everyone involved in that whole ordeal sucks.

Ever been to squabbles.io? 😒 I tried to like it, but I can’t stand it.
I used PowerDeleteSuite to nuke all my comments and posts. Once you set it, it’s all automated. It also has an option to edit all your comments to say you left for lemmy (or whatever you feel like saying if you allow your comments to remain) if you’re inclined to do so.
The app is coming together and improving pretty rapidly so far. I can see that Apollo has been a big inspiration in regards to gestures which makes me feel “at home” while browsing the lemmyverse. I’m definitely loving it.
My only suggestions would be having the ability to change the font size. I’m unfortunately at a stage in my life where it’s becoming more difficult to read smaller fonts, and I’m having to squint to read the comments.
I also made a request to the mlem dev to have the ability to toggle a setting that hides the top and bottom bars while scrolling through threads/comments like you can within Apollo. It’d be nice if a similar setting could be added.
Now this is a comment I can “Chef’s Kiss” to.
Yes! I can’t wait!
I’ve been enjoying the app so far. I’m looking forward to see where the app goes in regards to added features and UI improvements.
Keep up the good work Mlem team!
I feel the 3rd kind have have mostly abandoned the GOP entirely which is unfortunate, because they are typically pragmatic and can be reasoned with. The true believers are definitely concerning since they’re typically far more ideologically extreme and reactionary. I feel the power/money seekers are slowly being purged and replaced by the aforementioned true believers which is just a powder keg waiting to be lit.
Hopefully it’ll never reach critical mass, but I fear it’ll likely occur in the not too distant future…
Doug Demuro from YouTube would be all over this.
The no true Scotsman fallacy at play with the GOP.
I was going to say buildapcsales, but it appears that someone created it in the last 24 hours.
I’d love to have the top and bottom panels pop in and out when scrolling through comments similar to how Apollo does.
“Why are you such a bad person?” - because money.
It’s unfortunate you went about it the way you did since they can still monetize off of the entirety of your comment and post history. When you delete your account, all your comments and posts remain. They’re just no longer attached to your account name since that is what you deleted.
I was a bit more malicious and did the opposite by keeping my account intact, but gutting everything from within. So now every thread I ever commented in has “user deleted comment” sprinkled all throughout hundreds or thousands of threads.
My account is now a fine metaphor for what reddit has become. Just a hollow facade of what it once was.
Since u/spez seems to want to continue down this road and bar people of experiencing reddit the way they want, I decided to delete all of my post and comment history within my account there.
It’s obvious that those of us that want to continue to use 3rd party apps are considered dead weight in his eyes, so I decided that anything and everything I posted is likely of no value to Reddit.
I loved Relay while I was on Android. I’d say it’s the best Reddit app on Android. When I switched back to IOS, I was able to customize Apollo to pretty much mimic the UI of Relay’s.
Once June 30th rolls around, my reddit usage dies along with Apollo.
I was considering pre-ordering an Ally, but the battery life on it is a little underwhelming. I know it’s a similar capacity to that of the Steam Deck, but it packs way more computing power than what the Deck offers.
I wonder if they put such a small capacity battery in it so it’d weigh less than the Steam Deck. I know ASUS was citing it’s weight as a selling point.
It’s obvious that reddit had someone run the stats on what percentage of users would abandon the site completely and who would bite the bullet and eventually migrate over to their app. Obviously there must be more potential earnings with whatever projected percentage of users actually swallow their pride and use their app. All that Metadata must be worth a fortune to them.
“but there’s no users on lemmy”
It’s definitely a chicken and the egg situation.
I’ve been lurking here the past few days when I saw lemmy as a reddit alternative. I decided to sign up today as lurking isn’t doing this place any favors. Hopefully more people will sign up, and the momentum will build and continue.
Probably not nearly as much as those guys in the sub. 🤔
