I came here from Reddit
I have no idea what I’m doing but I never do xD
I study environmental science and I have interests in cycling, climate action, video games and many other things.
It’s simple there is no reason to work and there’s enough of us to say “fuck it” and march to change our system but none of us can organise a piss up in a brewery to save our lives.
We have working class people on their knees to the capitalists saying “yes master anything master”
We have socialists who prefer to talk about socialist philosophy instead of action, we have socialists who want bottom up socialism and others who want top down socialism
We have other people on the left that wants to keep the abusive system in place and we have the rest of the working class who don’t care about anything.
The problem is literally capitalism
I study environmental science and I can believe it, every model I’ve used all the sources I’ve used that predict have been conservative in numbers compared to what’s going on.
The problem is we are never going to do what needs to be done because capitalism is the literal cause and the world is addicted to capitalism because none of the companies are going to do what they need to do unless it’s profitable.
I wonder what was said in the meeting because wager was steam rolling. It smells like it was preplanned with the Russian state
Ever since the Reddit shitshow a lot of the decent people left leaving the bigots.
No it does not, 70% of emissions is by corporations
Someone decided that 3:30am would be a good idea to do some DIY so I got woken up by hammering, drills and other power tool use from a street over to mine.
No it’s not EVs are 60% less polluting than fuel vehicles, it’s irrelevant if you buy it used because it’s history is part of its impact.
The over arching problem is there’s too many vehicles on the road, most people including Americans when they drive only drive up to 3 miles.
I’m iffy about Lenin too. Marx and Engels wrote about bottom up socialism but Lenin came along and basically said the working class is too stupid for a socialist revolution and opted for top down socialism which led to authoritarian socialism and state capitalism.
Our neolib capitalist society is top down governance which is why I highly oppose everything that isn’t bottom up socialism
I’m not sure, I like to think of myself as an abolitionist but the more I think about it the more I can’t make my mind up.
I think a socialist society is going to need some form of police or a rapid response service like firefighting, and ambulance to get to emergencies but I don’t think this service needs to be wandering the streets like the police does today and also removing what they do to only dealing with violent crimes like someone getting attacked for example everything else they do should be its own service like a mental health response team, a road accident response team etc
Quite literally most that are in English are US centric. Second Thought and First Thought does theory and news.
No horseshoe theory is not confirmed lol
Yes it cannot be saved because by nature it’s contradictory and exploitative, all of the problems are caused by capitalism because without those problems people would be able to question for another system.
I am in South Yorkshire, I’m originally from Essex
Omg I remember watching all the horrific graphic PSAs in school got to the point that little me was too scared to go near train stations
My first reaction was “be free my lovelies!!!” 😂
This is a step in the right direction, but because phones are now extremely sophisticated they frequent need security updates, but phone manufacturers only support a phone for about 3 years that also needs tackling because that will also help reduce ewaste.
I’m not on Lemmy but kbin and it’s been like that here as well, and from what I understand it’s due to a mass of users from reddit slowing everything down and setting off ddos protections.
I’m still pretty new, I’m on kbin and what I love so far is I can see content and comment on threads from kbin and Lemmy. I’m still learning the whole fediverse thing, I do have a mastodon account as well but I still don’t really understand the connectedness of it all yet.
All of the subreddits I frequent all stated they’re closing the subreddits down and deleting their accounts so there’s no reason for me to be on Reddit anymore and I can’t justify staying on the platform when Reddit is acting the way it is.
It’s sad still, but now I’m trying to learn about fediverse and try new things.
Just like the discourse to sanitise pride so it’s family friendly, all this is about is trying to make their platforms “family friendly” to attract advertisers and that’s it.
