I’ve been a few times over about 15 years or so. This was out in the woods, using gas-powered guns.

They’ve always been free sessions and they generally just allocate people on teams randomly, so there’s no promise the people you go with will be on the same team or not.

It really is just luck of the draw for the most part. Some people get stuck in, others don’t.

Don’t bother wearing loads of layers - it won’t make a difference when you get hit. You’ll be better off making sure you’re comfortable.

Plus, your mask is going to fog up, so the cooler you can stay, the less trouble you’ll have with it.

I’m reading all the footnotes, although admittedly somewhat glossing over the ones which are purely citations, making reference to other books/magazines which may or may not even exist. I still try and read their titles though as they sometimes give a little insight to underlying themes.

The only thing I’m not doing it skipping about within the book itself, like where it says to check an appendix for more info - I figure I’ll get to those bits in due course, and don’t want to break-up the flow too much, or inadvertently lose my page 😅

Whether or not that’s the “right” way to go about things, I couldn’t say.

What I’m struggling with so far is that the language itself can be quite tricky in places (mostly the main body of text discussing the Navidson Record so far), and when Johnny’s sprawling footnotes start getting a bit nonsensical. Neither points are huge issues - you just have to pay attention with the former, and roll with the latter - but they do have me re-reading the same sentence over again in places where I’m trying to keep up 😅

As I say, enjoying it so far, but you’ve got to really engage.

I’m literally reading it for the first time at the moment - about 100 pages in.

So far it’s very intriguing, and I’m sure all the best is yet to come. It’s presentation and structure alone is compelling.

That being said, I’d be slow to recommend it so far. It’s nigh impenetrable in some parts 😅

What’s everyone’s preference at the moment?

I’ve been using Jerboa since I migrated and it’s been great.

Installed Liftoff today, but it seems less polished at the moment, though admittedly I’ve not yet had a chance to dive into the features properly.

Haven’t yet touched thunder.

I bought a gorgeous set of black metal dice with gold numbers, with a mindflayer theme.

Can’t read them for shit when actually playing.

I then proceed to buy a big bag of about 8 individual, basic sets with nice big numbers. They usually end up getting shared out to the group each session now 😅

I’m patiently waiting for someone (anyone) I know to decide to throw out an old laptop.

Gonna bite their hand off for it, install Linux and proceed to fuck around and find out.

Yeah, I’m extremely skeptical of anyone who now voluntarily steps up to be a mod on Reddit in the wake of everything that’s happened.

You should be wary of people who want power that badly.

I imagine it’s actually quite harmful.

People should be encouraged took seek advice and help if they suspect they have any kind of mental disability. It’s stigmatized as it is, to the point that many people actively shy away from acknowledging their condition, or, get concerned that they’re just overreacting, don’t really have the condition, and are instead some kind of faker/imposter, doing harm by putting demand on a care system that they feel other people are more deserving of, and generalising a serious condition.

If people suspect they need help, they should be encouraged to seek it. It’s not a contest and they shouldn’t feel ashamed.

I’m using the Jerboa app which has a dark mode. It’s a good experience so far.

That’s damn good.

I think mlem is the only IOS option at the moment, but I’m not 100% sure.

I’m on Android, so I’m using Jerboa, and it’s solid enough so far. Still has hiccups, but it’s coping for the most part.
