I really want to get this. Poor quality video and audio, some of those classic VHS lines across the screen…

For me it’s nostalgia and also fits with the analogue/early digital type vibe of the ship and equipment.

I’m sure a VHS rip must exist somewhere, anyone know where I could find one?

Just read the community rules about not posting direct links. Sorry about that.

It’s available on archive.org. Its a pretty easy search to find it. Enjoy!

Aliens and an Aliens 3 working print VHS rip are also available.

      Holy shit, THANK YOU!!

Don’t worry, I managed to get the links before you edited 😉

I did actually search on here but I only found alien 3.

Wow… finally! I thought I would never get to see this.

I love seeing someone finally find some obscure thing like this (not that this is that obscure but you get the point)

well get a HDMI to AV adapter, a AV to usb adapter, and 2 VHS recorders. first record the movie from hdmi to VHS and then copy VHS to VHS a few times till the quality goes down.

used hardware for this should be around 30$ or cheaper…or you could just use a video editor and add the VHS effect but that dosent look as good as true analog noise

You know, I was actually wondering about that recently. I watched The Thing in 4K and I sort of regreted it; I loved the movie, but I can only imagine how much better of an experience it would’ve been to watch it on VHS back in the day.

Tried looking for some kind of video player or something that could emulate the look of VHS (not unlike shaders like CRT Royale do for retro games), but couldn’t find anything.

If anyone knows about something like this, let me know.
