Based out of Grand Rapids, Michigan, Madcap is my roaster of choice. I get a new bag of single origin every 2 weeks, and I’m never disappointed. I brew it on my V60 pour over set up.

Nice, I’ll have to give it a try. We have a few good options in Michigan. Schuil is my go to when I want something special atm.

I’ll have to check out Schuil, thank you! Any other Michigan gems you’d recommend? I’ve enjoyed Hyperion and Zingerman’s lately as well.

Aw yay! They’re my first favorite roaster. I owe my biggest hobby to madcap. I was back in GR recently and got to go get a few cups from there again. They had a quality dip around the start of covid because their head roaster left, but after a year or so they were right back on track. I miss the patch on their bags though!

That’s amazing, thank you for sharing! I don’t think I got in early enough to see the patches.

What is your current favorite roaster?

My sister lived there for a while. This was her favorite roaster.

She still orders madcap monthly. Definitely a great roaster!

I’ll definitely give them a try! They do sell weird quantities though. 4oz, 8oz, 2lb, 4lb? Most places I’ve seen sell 12oz or rarely 1lb

Agreed, it is quite odd. I’m also used to 12oz bags, so it’s hard to make it last before the next bag comes.
