welcome to the weekly how’s your week going thread

this thread is a pretty straightforward and relaxed one for giving updates on how your week is going and chat like that. nothing special

on my front: last week was total chaos, so hoping for things to calm down this week because it is completely fucking up my groove; unfortunately reddit is not making that easy. this is also not ideally timed for my emotional state. anyways, read book 20 for the year (America City by Chris Beckett). on book 21. maybe i’ll marathon through a bunch of these in between keeping the site from being on fire

National Novel Writing Month, the big event in November, has two smaller events in April and July called ‘camps’. I finished my first novel (that was started during NaNo 2021) in February, and took some time off after I finished it. But now with the July camp looming, I’m scrambling to get the outline and character sheets done in time to start my sequel come the 1st.

No idea if I’ll get done in time, but I really hope I do. I really want to participate in this event.

So, my week? Crazy and busy but productive.

I always forget about the camps but I tend to have motivation issues during the November event. Maybe this is the year

I hope you do choose to participate. Just remember, if you don’t reach your goal, you still succeeded. Writing any amount of words is infinitely better than writing zero words.

I wish you the best of luck!

I appreciate it! Gonna think of an idea and flesh it out in the camp in July to hit the ground running in November. Best of luck to you as well!

I used to forget all the time too before I really decided to buckle down and start writing for real. I have dates two months in advance for all NaNo events yo remind me that if I hadn’t started prep yet, it was time to get going. Those are set for the next fifty years.

I’ve done NaNoWriMo a few times in the past and it was so much fun! Do the camps work the same way just with a smaller word count goal?

They are for setting your own goals. If you want to write non-fiction, short stories, or anything at all, you set your own word goals and hammer them out.

They’re much smaller events but I really enjoy the lower stress challenge.
