About what I expected. Wouldn’t have minded Bowmasters, Grief or Ring biting the big one but that’s probably expecting too much

Yeah agreed on all accounts, would’ve loved to see those too.

I didn’t think Up the Beanstalk would get banned so soon but I think it’s a good hit to the 4c decks that are just a slog to play against.

Everything I’ve seen from Beans has just been absurd. There’s just so many high MV cards you can cast for 0-2 mana these days it’s a super easy value engine. Plus it cantrips before you even cast anything and I think that really pushes it over the edge

Is it just me, or is “we’ll be changing the rate at which we update the B&R list from now on” a regular part of B&R announcements?

However, it is rare for a player to pay anywhere close to five mana to cast the cards they are using with Up the Beanstalk .

Yeah. I think Up the Beanstalk would be a pretty fair card if Magic were a game where you had to pay five mana to cast a five-mana spell.

Overall – a reasonable set of announcements which I think will probably have the expected outcomes.

Even if you’re not that interested in Pauper, Gavin Verhey’s separate article about the Swiftspear ban goes into a lot of detail about the thought process behind bannings & unbannings.
