I completely understand why Valve decided that the touchpad haptics were good enough, the deck is heavy as it is already. I’d still love to have the option of adding some proper rumble on the deck for the games that deserve it.

Steam Controller uses the same haptic motors as the Switch Pro controllers do. The Steam Deck uses these teeny tiny things stuck on the underside of the trackpads that are designed only for providing feedback for mouse use. So to be honest, they do work way better than one would think.
Yeah the direct touchpad feedback is great. It’s the rumble emulation when you’re not directly touching the touchpads that’s lacking.
