Mexico's president has requested permission from the Mexican Senate to allow a group of U.S. military personnel to enter the country to train Mexican special forces in early 2024, according to an announcement in the Senate's official gazette.

    Some, but there are two things here to consider:

    1. Not NEARLY on the level of Afghanistan. It’s hard to overstate just how little control the government had, or how little of a ‘nation’ there was.

    2. US training isn’t going to make their problems worse, so there’s little reason not to accept, other than domestic political concerns.
