Had a bit of a showerthought this morning. c/books could do a monthly book club pick but with the additional feature of inviting a related community to participate. For example, if the book pick was “Two Wheels Good” by Jody Rosen, [email protected] could be invited to participate. Seems to be a great way to encourage more people to read and more people to subscribe to the sub.

I absolutely love the idea! Oftentimes I find myself reading the same types of stories over and over again. I’m very fond of the classics (Jane Austen is my absolute fave) and science fiction in the novel world. I really need to broaden my horizons and this could help me do just that!

I never got into the literature subs on Reddit very much, but I’m working on that deficiency now. And, if anyone would like some good ole’ poems to ponder the day away, I have those to share in spades!

It would be an interesting idea. Maybe even have non literature/ book related communities pick a book so that they feel uniquely included. I’m sure it would be rather easy for the AI and technology communities to find relevant sci- fi books. Environmental and political communities could also find many dystopia novels and many nonfiction books as well.

It could be fun as well to discuss short stories or comic books that discuss topics relevant to other communities. That way people don’t feel like it’s as much of a commitment, but it is still reading, engaging, socializing, and often quite powerful.
