Fable was teased with some iconic British Actors, it looks like Fable is going to be a very British game, its being developed by Playground Games who made Forza Horizon series.

If the game is nothing but a giant Richard Ayoade chasing my around his castle then I’m in.

The tone is exactly what I’m looking for, and I’ll be cautiously hopeful for a return to form for the series! Peter Molyneux has a bit of a history of over promising and under delivering, but the PR team around this project has mercifully been able to keep Peter from shoving his foot in his own mouth so far. Here’s hoping that playground really takes their time with this one.

I don’t think Peter is actually on the team for this game. It was my understanding that it’s a new studio.

It’s by Playground Games; Lionhead Studios was shuttered half a decade ago.

Finally Fable returns! It’s so nostalgic for me. Hopefully we’ll see some gameplay soon. And thank you Xbox for acknowledging PC exists. Square Enix has burned me by making both new FF releases timed PS exclusives.

What a weird trailer. The British humor of Fable is just a fun extra on top of the core gameplay, not the defining feature… Not really sure what this trailer is conveying exactly, showing off a single character and some kind of Richard Ayoade theme park experience, but I guess we’ll see.

I’m sure fans will be very excited but as someone who has never played Fable, I still have no idea what it’s about.

Whats stopping you? I would definitely start at fable anniversary , move to 2 and 3. It isnt a special, or really graphically stunning game series but its a very charming one. The accents, the small details to the scenery, the easily abusable magic system are great additions. Especially magic being overpowered for once is a fresh breath of air.

This is one of those must play series for Action RPG fans. The soundtracks are also carefully catered which is very nice.

Also being a landlord is OP in literally every entry in this series which is kind of hilarious as a real world reflection. Just sleep and collect rent from people.

yoooo!! This is great. Fable was one of my favorite games back in the day. Very cool to see a reimagined successor on the horizon.

Awesome to see this news breaking on lemmy. Very cool, thanks for sharing.

Wow, this one was not on my radar, but got me excited! Played a lot of Fable 2 and 3, and if this one manages to keep a bit of the fun of those games, it should be a great time.

I remember playing a bit of Fable 2 on my aunt’s XBox as a kid and not really getting it. Has it aged well? Or should I just wait for this new one?

Story and gameplay-wise, I think it will be a better experience with some years under your belt. Fable has a lot of humor and plays quite a bit with tropes in other games. I also remembering having a lot of fun in the downtime of quests, without it falling into the traps that recent games all fall into (ubisoft open world formula)

If you like Action RPGs and don’t mind playing some older games, I’d definetly recommend checking it out again. I may also follow my advice and go play Fable Anniversary in preparation for this one.

(Disclaimer: this is my recollection of the experience 10+ years ago, haven’t played the games since)

Well, that looks like fun! Although I’m expecting some E3 style graphics downgrade…

Love how they dedicated a good 5 seconds of time to kicking the chicken and seeing how far it goes.

Looking forward to this game as someone who mostly enjoyed the prior three entries in the series. I should go back and replay them.

Can’t wait for this to come out. I replayed the series again during lock down. It was still as good when they were first released. Here’s hoping that they keep the title system, I’ve also stick with Chicken Chaser.
