Just made this sectional following the plans from Ana White.
Roughly $900 CAD in materials, $750 of that being the cushions. I used Duvholmen cushions with Jarpon covers from Ikea, accent pillows I found at Home Sense. All 2x4 lumber and I used pocket holes where screws would be visible. Finished with Ready Seal natural cedar.
Quite happy with it overall. It’s really comfortable and will last far longer than (and was cheaper than) those plastic weave ones from big box stores.
$750 in pillows???
I had no idea they could be that expensive.
I’m right there with you.
As a guy who doesn’t buy many pillows in life, but has bought some nice curtains, I guess I’m not necessarily surprised.
Oh man, I don’t even want to know
Definitely a reality check about pillow prices! Especially with outdoor pillows I imagined that the fabric would be pricey but not $750 pricey.
Seriously! Omg.
Maybe it’s the redneck in me, but I think I’d find a way around that.
“Yeah, guys, don’t mind the bedbugs. Sharing is caring after all”
I want them to last, so getting both decent quality covers and cushions was key. I’ve found the cushions on big box plastic sets tend to flatten out pretty quick too, but there were reviews on these mentioning they keep their fluffiness quite well.
Yeah, great call on having nice things that will actually work and last. Just a bit of sticker shock not directed at you. Hope the patio brings you years of joy!
Well the bench looks great, so as long you’re happy with the product, all is well
Just a bit of sticker shock, that’s all.
All good! I had a bit of it myself when I first started looking.
Yeah I looked around a bit and there were a few cheaper options on amazon and things, but it’s difficult to tell the quality on those. I knew I’d get something reasonable from Ikea, that the cushions would actually be more or less the size they claim, they’d be built for the outdoors, and that the covers would fit them perfectly.
Even the alternatives I found weren’t a whole lot cheaper. I’m happy with the quality of these at $125/seat.
