Based purely on personal anecdotal experience from talking to friends of both genders, I feel like there must be some interesting evolutionary pressure explanations for this. Or could it be purely a modern-day social phenomenon?

Similarly, a woman wearing her partners underwear is meh, but vice versa is o_O
