I feel like most people who have been playing video games since childhood have one or more of a select few games that they go back and replay every few years.
For me I’ve been replaying Pokémon Emerald Version recently. Nothing like nostalgia and being able to better enjoy aspects of a game you didn’t understand as a kid. ☺️
Final Fantasy VIII
Some other favorites:
Morrowind
Jade Cocoon
Final Fantasy X
Halo CE
Spyro Trilogy
Any of the Dark Souls games. I frequently revisit them. I also seem to go back to Roller Coaster Tycoon and the Team Silent Silent Hill games.
the stuff i replay from my childhood are: sonic adventure 2 super monkey ball 2 mario vs donkey kong on gba pikmin pac man world 2
The more recent things are: terraria
Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 2 for PS1. I still love chasing high scores in the Hangar.
Here’s a vid of the best run I’ve recorded at ~3.1 million. Not my best run (highest ever was 4.1 million) but this is the best on I have on capture.
Also, for some reason I really like Mighty Morphin Power Rangers for the SNES. I’ve played it so much I can beat the whole game in just over 30 mins on a single life.
Pokemon Emerald is a great choice. I’ve done it a couple of times as well.
Another of mine is Super Mario Sunshine. Loooove that game.
Also shout-out to Dark Souls Remastered. Always nice to go back to that.
I don’t replay games as much as I used to, but there’s definitely “classics” that I’ll hit up every now and then.

Old Bioware/Obsidian games definitely have a spot, as well as old Assassin’s Creed games.
-
The Portal series every once in a while. Those games never get old.
-
Various rogue likes when the urge strikes. Binding of Isaac and Hades are my two favs, though I just started Dead Cells and it’s pretty good.
-
Minecraft, but it’s basically a new game every time I get back to it, so not sure if that counts, hah.
There are also tons of games from my childhood that I often consider trying out again, but am concerned will have aged poorly. Old game design was pretty rough in a lot of cases.

Since I can beat each of the classic Genesis Sonic games in under an hour, they’re go-to games for a quick play session every once in a while. I also scratch the itch to play the N64 Zelda games (OoT and Majora’s Mask) every few years on whatever console Nintendo’s offering them on. The “original” GBA Fire Emblem (FE7, Blazing Blade for those more familiar with the series) also gets a lot of replays from me.
Castlevania: Symphony of the Night
For a old game fallout new Vegas but right now darkest dungeon it’s a good way to chill out if I’m not in mood for anything big
Spyro Trilogy, since the remaster came out I think I’ve gone back and 100% all three games twice. Spyro was the first game I got on PS1 and the nostalgia combined with better graphics is amazing
Some of my best gaming memories are playing Spyro 3 with family when I was just a kid. The game is so easy to pickup and play, no matter how many times you’ve done it.
The music, the levels, playable characters it hit a home run in all of them.
This! Plus for me Super Mario64 and Crash Bandicoot 3.
My mind was blown the first my cousin brought over his N64, we had not played anything but NES / SNES. Mario 64 was the only game he had and it felt like it came out of this world.
Noita. Beats my ass on the reg, even tho’ I have close to 2000 hours in it. Maybe I just like pain?
Lmao. I relate to this hard.
