Hi all! I bought a used Steam Deck 2 weeks ago and I am loving it! I am playing Fallout 4 on it and it works amazingly good!
So, what is your choice when you finish playing?
I put the Steam Deck to sleep and the next day the battery was 7 percent lower than before. I am thinking of just shutting it down so it doesn’t drain battery in sleep mode.
Honestly most of the time I don’t even close the game, I just put the device to sleep, I’m usually near an outlet so loosing a few percent doesn’t bother me, I do use a plugin to cap the charge to 85% though
Same here. Although if I feel I might pick up playing on my PC later, I’ll exit the game so it syncs to Steam Cloud.
I have had a few instances of Vampire Survivors resuming with weird audio glitches. No gameplay problems though, so not a huge deal.
I would probably do that more if I played on my PC much these days, but as is it’s more convenient to just pit it to sleep
Though yeah, that doesn’t apply to games that break in someways when asleep
Though out of curiosity, do you use the pause games plugin to make games auto pause when the deck goes to sleep? If not that might fix it
Oh no I didn’t know about that plugin. I tend to just pause manually, then sleep. I agree with you on the convenience of just putting it to sleep and picking it back up later. Super awesome feature that I feel is overlooked. Or maybe just not talked about a lot.
I find myself regularly looking at the available plugins on decky, there are some really cool ones
What plugin do you use? Is there a measurable benefit?
I use a lot of plugins, all downloadded/installed through Decky Loader, some are just aesthetic, some add features, such as decky recorder which only causes a slight prefomance hit (you really should look at them to see)
Other things that I would recommend that aren’t Technically plugins are Cryo Utils (which does have a prefomance boost as explained in The Devs official video here )
And Emudeck for well… Easy emulation, there are a lot of videos for all of these things online if you need tutorials
Edit: just occurred to me that you might have been asking about the plugin I use to cap charging, for that I use Power tools, unfortunately it only works while the device is awake though
