I can’t wait for #VRheadsets to become so light it’s like wearing glasses. #simracing is literally next level in #VR. Especially with the new #buttkicker But I can only wear the #oculusquest2 for so long before I’m fatigued. (I know some can wear them all day and you’re lucky!)
Been running #VIR all weekend with the #porsche #gt4 in #iRacing on triples. Hopped into VR and after a few laps I was already negative delta by nearly a second. 🤷‍♂️

I don’t know if it’s like wearing glasses, but the bigscreen beyond is 127 grams, about a quarter of the weight of the quest 2. So premium devices are getting there.

@BuddyTheBeefalo I don’t even think the new apple VR is going to be capable of any kind of PC gaming. Unless I missed something last I heard there wasn’t going to be any interfacing with desktops. Eventually. Probably still a few years out for what I’m really looking for. Even further for something affordable probably

@Elegast123 @BuddyTheBeefalo of course it will. It runs apps. It runs iOS. Theres already iOS apps that does streaming SteamVR to an iPhone (for use with Cardboard or similar).

I don’t think it’s a good option due to the price, but it’s going to be capable of doing it, especially now that it seems like the iVRy dev’s attempts at PSVR2 for PC seem like a dead end due to hardware DRM, so they’ll need to find a new project to build.

Probably not, I just cant believe they are the only company that has an external battery. I’d never buy apple.

A headset where the battery and the computing unit could be stored in my pocket, on my head only screen and lenses would be great.

If only they took the processing hardware out of a kit like Pico4 or Quest3 to make them PC only, you’d get the lightest, most capable form of VR possible. A distant hope would be something on par with a snowboard mask in size and weight. The quest2 in particular, without any comfort options like the better strap and more comfy padding, is among the least comfy kits I know. Also make sure your IPD and in-sim settings for lock-to-horizon etc is ideal for your preferences, as that reduce eyestrain and nausea a lot.

As for “immediately not being as fast as on triples”, you will need an adjustment period, this goes both ways.

I ordered the Bigscreen Beyond and am eagerly awaiting delivery. I love sim racing in VR (Index), but the headset weight is really uncomfortable for me; I hope the Beyond is as great as some of the initial reviews claim.
