I used to brew beer and loved it. When I quit, I sold everything and started making ice cream. Loving that too! My daughter is lactose intolerant and this way I can make delicious dairy free ice creams.

    I also intensified existing hobbies.

Hiking went from a vacation or quarterly activity to several times per week. (Less now because of fatherhood.)

I returned to music and really doubled down on reading.

I picked up a couple of new hobbies: kayaking and spin bike.

And I started a business that’s been doing well for a few years and became a dad.

None of it would have happened without sobriety.

Awesome, great on you, thanks for sharing!

Your kids will benefit from it as well. I remember from my childhood that every party involved alcohol. So I thought that you can’t have a party without.

I’m a dad as well and so happy to be sober for them.

Thanks! And congrats to you on being sober and present for your kids. I’m sure they love it.

Man, I recall the same kind of scene growing up. I thought binge drinking was normal. Every adult I knew did it, and they did it often.

Trying to show my daughter a different world. We took her to a glacial pond and a nice ridge with nearly 360-degree views today. Kid loved it.

Yeah, so now your kid is growing up in a world where using the most addictive hard drug on the planet isn’t normal or common. She’s enjoying the world sober and she will definitely keep that with her for the rest of her life! Good on you.
