matrix multiplications. lots and lots of matrix multiplications. What gpus are good at already
matrix multiplications. lots and lots of matrix multiplications. What gpus are good at already
the exact same intended use case, in fact
not really. A lot of techniques have been known for decades. What we didn’t have back then was insane compute power.
and there’s the turing award for computer science.
and physicists use tools from math, so fields medals should be awarded to physicists.
yeah, so that means that it’s not incremental improvement on what we have that we need. That will get us nowhere. We need a (as yet unknown) completely different approach. Which is the opposite of incremental improvement.
because, having coded them myself, I am under no illusions as to their capabilities. They are not magic. “just” some matrix multiplications that generate a probability distribution for the next token, which is then randomly sampled.
the first advice the superintelligent ai would give: “power me down”
incremental improvements on a dead end, still gets you to the dead end.
no, it doesn’t work that way. The os does that with caching because it can release the memory should another user program ask for it. The browser just takes all of that memory. As far as the system is concerned, that memory is in use, not available.
challenge icsiepted! I just need to buy a 3rd monitor
i got it to cover the whole screen once.
It just keeps growing
i hate coding for browsers. To that end, I do not actually know css. I just called it padding when I wrote my own qr code library, because it was easier to say than “quiet zone”.
Just like “dots” or “pixels” are easier to say than “modules”
playing nintendo games, on a pc, using a dualshock feels so wrong and yet so right
the bottom one is not a qr code. The padding is part of it.
anyone remember the anarchist’s cookbook?
tests are code too. It makes you feel more productive to generate them, I guess.
If it’s not good for the real code, it’s not good for the tests
it’s “my way or the highway” but for gui
i wish the phrase “maybe later” would be forced to be changed to “no”. The word no has disappeared!
none of them can say they haven’t been warned. It’s common knowledge that they’re haemhorraging money, it’s only a matter of time before the investors start wanting some sort of return
