Woah, woah, woah, you’re telling me we could have been doing these ritual human sacrifices by just formally declaring them dead the whole time? This would have saved so much on overhead…
Aztec priests hate this one trick…
Nice D&D campaign premise
The Altar of the Named Dead has its uses, but it works best as a side quest to Tenser’s Fluctuating Metamoney
You have to find the altar all these people are being sacrificed on only to discover the entire city is an altar. Very Full Metal Alchemist.
Should I watch that show? I watched like 12 episodes some months back but just couldn’t get into it.
but thats just me
Yes, in fact that is just you. Most other people have a firmer grip on their sanity.
Isn’t this kinda the plot of Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood
Pretty much. Also in one of Charles Stross’s Laundry Files novels.
What if, now hear me out, what if the entire planet is a witch sacrifice altar where beings from other dimensions are sent and incorporated as humans and they live their lives full of confusion, suffering and pain and then they all have to die and that collective sacrifice feeds the pan-dimensional deity that lives beyond the black hole known as the Great Annihilator?
Isn’t that basically Scientology?
See I knew I needed to up the dosage to outcrazy L. Ron. Have you ever read Bare Faced Messiah? It’s quite long and repetitive (tl;dr: Ron lied. A lot. About everything.) but the bit about his naval career is quite entertaining.
The old rotten.com had a fun article about him https://web.archive.org/web/20170711053059/http://www.rotten.com/library/bio/religion/cult/l-ron-hubbard/
I miss the old rotten library. Iain M. Banks too.
That’s just your Theatons talking.
Hey, scientology is completely different, scientology has aliens flying in DC-8s and using mid 20th century police hats. @[email protected] theory is at least 90% more believable.
Sounds plausible. Please sign me up for your newsletter.
LOL.
I need to know more. This is good stuff.
I forgot where I was for a minute when he posted this and said “what?”, and he replied “it’s just a thought”.
Well I suppose he’s technically correct then.
Seriously though… What?
It’s just a thought
