Hi everyone! Thanks for all the feedback so far, lot’s of really great suggestions and useful criticism! I’m very happy to see so many people using the app, nothing is more motivating honestly.

This update adds a bunch of requested features, including:

  • Multiple account support
    • Hold down the tab-icon to switch!
  • Profile pages
    • Tap any user to see their comments, posts and recent activity
  • Favorite subscriptions
    • For those of you with just a tad too many communities to keep track of
  • Share sheet integration for posts & images
  • Added option to block communities/users
  • Added new page to view saved comments
  • Improved the UI for settings

Since the last update I’ve also added:

  • Full-width swipe to go back (super nice for large phones!)
  • Smarter option to show both downvotes and upvotes only for controversial …in addition to a bunch of bug fixes and improvements all-around.

Hope you enjoy the new changes, and let me know what you think!

Ouff, that’s definitely not what it’s meant to do! Are you on iOS 17 beta by any chance? Heard that it wasn’t behaving correctly on the beta but I’m not on the beta yet myself

I am on iOS 17, that could possibly be why. Weird because that doesn’t happen on other Lemmy apps I’m testing currently.

I’m on iOS 17 beta as well and have the same stuttering. I think other apps aren’t built specifically for iOS 16 or newer, so perhaps there is a different bit of code they’re using.

Yeah, the pull-to-refresh system is pretty custom so quite different from other apps. Would you mind checking the latest build (b11) to see if it fixes it? Did a pretty hefty rewrite just now but not sure if its the reason for the bug

    Hi Evgiz,

Waited for favourites on community from long time and happy to see that happening today…

Just a suggestion that please make these favourites also sorted alphabetically or give us the option of rearranging them as per our choice.

And one more UI tweak could have been better is that the saved book mark sign could be moved to the right side of the post ( because i feel every options are leaned towards left side and feels cluttered towards left side and right side feels blank )

Otherwise it’s a great update as always… and can’t wait to see what’s more in store in upcoming days…

    Thanks again.

      Hi, no problem!

Sorting favorites alphabetically too is a good idea, seems more consistent. I’ll add that in the next build.

I’m constantly tweaking minor things in the UI still, so might do something to make the bookmark icon look more balanced. Not sure exactly how it’ll end up though, it’s pretty challenging to keep the clean design while also showing all the info you need!

        Hi,

Thanks again for the quick response…

Just noticed that, once you make a community favourite a new duplicate community is being added in the favourite section…

This method makes the list grow unnecessarily with duplicates if a person favourites too many communities ( let’s say if he has 50 communities )

Instead what you can do is, once a community is favourited it just moves up permanently and alphabetically into the favourite section and once he unfavourites it comes back to its original non-favourite section with alphabetical order…

This makes the whole list intact without any duplicate entries.

Please never mind for this long post…

I just love this app, and I want it to grow bigger that’s all…

        Thank you.

Good point, no reason to keep duplicates really. I’ll pop that in with the next build.

No worries about long comments, I genuinely appreciate the feedback. There’s always a ton of small parts in apps like these, so it’s pretty easy to miss obvious things or minor nuisances that are only apparent when you use the app for a bit. Feel free to add a post with a summary of your thoughts or just suggestions/bugs you find in general! Cheers

            Just a heads up,

After the recent update, only the subscription list stutters a lot while scrolling ( can be noticed when scrolling slowly )…

Other tabs are just fine and quite smooth in comparison.

Hey man thanks for the update! It’s been great so far.

I just noticed a bug on replying to comments. It sometimes does not work when I swipe left to reply unlike before. I think you can replicate it when you scroll too much in the comments and feed.

    [Bug]

    1. The total number of subscribers count and number of comments counts belonging to the same community are showing different numbers when you switch the profile account. ( example: Avelon Committee subscribers count shows 180 and 61 from different profiles and same goes with the message counts )

    2. Also repeated switching of the profiles from the bottom bar long press method, the account switching stops after few tries. ( pop up option stops popping for switching users ) and works normally only after launching the app. ( Note: this behaviour happened only once in a repeat testing, this could be a glitch also from my end but still bringing it to your notice )

    3. Once you unsubscribe from a community which you have favourited and after sometimes if you re subscribe to the same community by searching it in the the explore community section that community automatically goes back to favourite section ( I think ideally it should be added into unfavourite section first as it’s considered as a new entry… I could be wrong in thinking like this but please give here your thoughts. )

    4. And the subscription tab stutters while scrolling ( can be noticed when scrolling slowly )

    [Suggestion]

    1. In the subscription list highlighting the community that user currently present or selected by giving it a selected theme assent colour for lesser confusion ( bcoz I got confused to know if I was on AskLemmy.world or AskLemmy.ml… )

    2. Collapse all child comments except the parent comment by default option and showing the child comments numbers in the parent comment. ( In your case parent comment is also hiding on tap which make no sense I feel )

    3. Display New Comment count on the post card.

    4. Option to Hide bottom toolbar labels for even more cleaner look ( with little transparent blur would be even cooler )

Note: I took this inspiration from sync for Lemmy

Hello! Do you plan on implementing the mark read on scroll then hide read button? It will really help with the experience. Thank you!

For sure, I already have a hide-read-posts toggle working internally, will probably be included in next build. Haven’t looked at mark-read-on-scroll yet but definitely something I wanna do.

        Yey! Thanks man!

Avelon and voyager are currently my top 2. To be honest, Voyager has more features and is fast but I like Avelon’s aesthetic. I constantly switch my browsing between the two.

I would love to be able to swipe right-to-left to go to the previous page that I was on, especially for nights when I’m sleepily scrolling and I accidentally go back to my subscription list. :)

Wonderful app. Excited for the future

It would be awesome if you could give us the option to have our avatar display as our profile image in the bottom bar. It can serve as a very quick reference for which account we’re on too.

Also, any update on custom text size for text inside of posts?

Haven’t had the time to look at that yet, I’m planning to add a slider that applies app-wide though. I realize the font size is a bit on the smaller size atm which can be an issue for many people.

Account images should be a quick thing to add as an option. Personally I prefer the clean look but definitely a nice customization to have!

I actually think the text could be shrunk down a little 😂. Thanks for the update, and thanks for considering the avatar as a possible option.
