I don’t understand how anyone could’ve learned about citizens united and thought it wouldn’t end this way.

I am from Canada. I still remember my social studies teacher bringing up Citizens United and asking us all what we thought about it. I still think about our naive answers years later lol.

Yeah they’ll jump down his throat for being the first neoliberal president but ignore that he actually walked the neoliberal walk.

Ended support for various fascist regimes, promoted human rights, fought against neo-colonial policies (leaving aside for the moment the pitfalls of free trade agreements), etc etc. Literally died building homes for the poor, not like those dorks know what that’s like for all their talk.

I don’t mind deregulation fanatics quite so much when it’s from people that don’t support the Pinochets of the world.

It’s the ones like Reagan, or most everyone after him, you have to watch out for, the ones for whom “deregulation” means “poison who you want, break all the unions you want” not “we won’t stop airlines from offering discounted flights.”

Quite literally didn’t. He’s literally still alive.

I agree with you that people here shitting on Carter are annoying AF, but Jimmy Carter literally isn’t dead.

Ha, I could have sworn I saw articles about his passing earlier this year, it was that he’s in hospice care.

Ok, will have literally been building homes until he was physically incapable then.

And that is why I don’t like people slandering his name. You may not like his politics, but by all accounts Carter was the last stand up guy to be POTUS (IDK about Obama yet)

Did Carter sell drugs to his citizens, and weapons to Iran, to fund a Nicaraguan paramilitary organization? No. Did he invade Iraq to please his buddies in the military industrial complex and boost his ratings by being a wartime president? No. Did fuck the interns, then lie about it? No. Did he invade Iraq like his dad, and for the same reasons, while claiming he was conducting a crusade? No. Did he evade military service by making up an illness or steal classified materials so he could flex on his buddies, while being a puppet for Moscow and inciting an insurrection? No, I don’t think that he did that either.

What Carter did was live a humble life, serve as a nuclear submarine commander, actively stepping in with his first hand knowledge of nuclear technology when the three mile island nuclear power plant was in crisis, and then spend the rest of his life actively doing charity and building homes for the poor until he literally couldn’t fucking stand anymore!

The man’s a hero in my book!
