    This is so sad, I don’t understand how any moderator would still feel ok to stay on reddit… Thank you for sharing

      If any employees were involved they were just told to send the form letter to any sub still private. It was probably automated, I haven’t paid attention to any time stamps. Intimidation is all it is.

    Wow I figured if a sub had less than 30 people they would not bother. I have a sub that only has 2 subscribers which I made restricted and edited the lounge post. All of the posts besides the lounge post are now set to nsfw as well.

    The message I have in the lounge post.

    “Due to reddits Unreasonable Api changes which will effect moderators and screw over blind people we have moved to. https://kbin.social/m/magazinename

    The success of reddit is balancing on whether you open up that incredibly defiant group of nail artists! 🙃

    Well, I’m glad you’ve found your way here. There are a couple of groups that might be of interest to you …

    @Laqueristas
    @lemmylaqueristas

    Welcome! 🤗

    They may as well just remove the “Private” feature from Reddit since it’s against the CoC to use it at this point.

    This was actually a question I have, if I create a subreddit and start to mod it, does Reddit now own my subreddit? Yes, it does

      Reddit owns the subreddit, you own your content, other users own their content. Reddit has a license to use your content. And of course, Reddit can do whatever they like with any subreddit.

        you own your content, other users own their content

        I think this may be confusing for laymen. From a copyright standpoint you are off course correct, you are the author and therefore the “owner” of the words you just wrote on Reddit.

        But from a practical point of view the copy you send Reddit once you press submit takes a life of its own, governed by a very broad-reaching license, which for all intents and purposes means you don’t control that copy anymore.

          100% correct, and I agree… people do not grasp the nuance there in most cases. Awaiting the day Reddit tries to claim they own the content though.

      Already did. In fact I made a few and am working on getting the mod teams on Reddit to make the jump. I will then hand over the Kbin that is for them. I figured it would be easier if I have a place for them to land ready to go.

    I have a sub of like 4 subscribers/posts that I closed shortly after opening it because I realized that I had no time to mod. I might want to check in on that sub…

        While I understand why there is lots of negative energy about Reddit right now, there’s no need to be hostile to people who still want to use it—it is still a massive repository of information and serves a ton of different communities, after all.

        People should be on Reddit if they want to be on Reddit, and be here if they want to be here, and that’s not an insult to anyone.

        I don’t think Reddit is going to change course here (or, in the future)… at some point protesters are going to have to give up, get out, or become increasingly perceived as trolls.

        I can’t be on several platforms? Out of curiosity I joined other potential reddit alternatives in the past even though I had no plans on leaving Reddit. Same situation here.

          it’s just that your argument sounds awfully similar to the automated message the admins have been sending out to all of the mods that were protesting.
